Mandela, Herbert Macaulay & Martin Luther King

Nelson Mandela is a great African statesman, freedom-fighter and the first black President of South Africa. Mandela embodies strength, values and perseverance.

Martin Luther King Jnr was a key figure in the civil rights movement in America. He was instrumental in ensuring equal rights to all men irrespective of colour, religion or creed, believing in civil disobedience without violence. He is our inspiration because he showed courage, grace and fortitude in the face of discrimination, in the end laying down his life for his beliefs.

Olayinka Herbert Samuel Heelas Badmus Macaulay was a Nigerian nationalist, politician, engineer, journalist, and musician and considered by many Nigerians as the founder of Nigerian nationalism.

As a pre-examination class, emphasis is placed on impacting foundational skills and building self-confidence in the pupils. Learning is both fun and detailed, exposing these young adults to core skills in comprehension, verbal and written communication, dexterity with numbers, sportsmanship as well as craft work.

Literacy: The skills of reading and writing, speaking and listening. Key-stage 2 pupils are expected to read and write fluently and with confidence and understanding, having a suitable technical vocabulary through which to discuss their reading and writing and to develop their power of imagination, inventiveness and critical awareness.

ICT: Software and Hardware, Computer Networks and its environment, Managing Files and Folders, Movie Making, The effects of using ICT and Windows Accessories.
Here at SBS, we believe in empowering our pupils to discover the world around them and make a change. Education is viewed as a key tool in achieving and impacting meaningful change.

Geography: The world in which we live as an integral and valuable addition, the continents, the natural and man-made environment and our need to preserve and deliver it to future generations.

Numeracy: Profit and loss, Simple interest, fractions, percentages, decimal, ratio and proportion, basic addition and subtraction, algebra etc.

Christian Religious Knowledge: God view of man and creation, In-depth look at the bible as the Word of God.

As we prepare our pupils for common entrance exams we recognize the need to allow the young minds room for self-discovery and teamwork. We encourage the development of the imagination through observation and exploration utilizing a hands-on teaching method of demonstration and collaboration. The classes compromise of gifted young men and women with an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a zeal to make a difference. The curriculum taught exposes our children to the dynamic elements of their immediate social environment and the world as a whole. With the support of an inclusive curriculum, a motivating and enjoyable atmosphere and the use of information technology, the teaching style utilizes a synergy of facilitation and team-work to achieve clearly defined learning objectives.
